Interacting with our surroundings are transformed into a memorable and meaningful event. Firstly, it’s impossible to look at a something without using one of our senses. In addition to our five senses  according to Dr.Willam are hearing, seeing, tasting, smelling and touching (William.K,2017). Although the Finnish architect Pallasmaa believes that there are seven senses. He believes that senses can help develop a role in our perceptions of a space, proportion, materials and light. Pallasmaa believes the seven senses are, sight, hearing, smell, touch, movement, bodily awareness and taste of architecture (Pallasmaa, 2012).

Having senses of are own visual images creates our memories. For example, the image itself may not include all the environmental information in that particular place or event that was experienced. Rather, it is our own visual image that presents a version of that experience, which we find most meaningful. As humans, we tend to manifest in our own memories, that allows an emotional attachment towards a place, which stimulates a feeling as a result. For example, the Architectural review states “We appreciate a place not just by its impact on our visual cortex but by the way in which it sounds, it feels and smells. Some of the sensual experience elite, for instance, our full understand of wood is often achieved by the perception of its smell, its texture (which can be appreciated by both looking and feeling) and by the way in which it modulates the acoustics of the space’’ (The Architectural Review, 1991). Using our senses makes us feel physical, emotionally and psychologically aware of the spaces we occupy a feeling of being ‘present’. Zumthor claims “Every once in a while, I get this feeling of presence. Sometimes in me, but definitely in the mountains. If I look at these rocks, those stones, I get a feeling of presence, of space, of material” (Zumthor,2013) Being present is a sensation that is personal and difficult perhaps to describe, yet Zumthor describes it with the space around him, which is a feeling how most people feel present.
